In 1983, 162 breeders from the Basque mountains assembled to create the cooperative. Right from the beginning, the cooperative adopted the name of its product : Axuria, which means milk-fed lamb in the Basque dialect.
The Label Rouge certification stands for the outstanding quality of this emblematic meat, slightly pink, delicate and melting.
